My Aim
My aim with this blog, what I am aspiring to do with it is gain a deeper understanding of Stoicism. I have been interested in, and studying and implementing Stoicism since 2018 and for me it is much more than a few life hacks or psychological tricks. It is a full philosophy of life that is deeply spiritual and can bring meaning and purpose to our lives, and that is why I am aiming to live and become a better person through Stoicism.
The name Aspiring Stoic was inspired by Agnes Callard’s work on aspiration in her book Aspiration: The Agency of Becoming. Aspiration is aiming at a goal that we do not fully grasp, and that is a very fitting description of what we are doing in aiming to be virtuous.
We aspire by doing things, and the things we do change us so that we are able to do the same things, or things of that kind, better and better.
-Agnes Callard, Aspiration p. 5
Aspiration is how we go about changing the things that we value. And that is a prime focus in Stoicism.

Be part of a community of people who share your interests. Philosophy I thinkt is a group venture; dialogue, arguments, and sharing ideas are best done with others. Seeking truth and routing out false beliefs is much easier when we have others point out where we are wrong.
Of what sort am I? One of those who would be glad to be refuted if I say anything untrue, and glad to refute anyone else who might speak untruly; but just as glad, mind you, to be refuted as to refute, since I regard the former as the greater benefit, in proportion as it is a greater benefit for oneself to be delivered from the greatest evil than to deliver some one else. For I consider that a man cannot suffer any evil so great as a false opinion on the subjects of our actual argument.
